Kids. Festival of theatre and the arts for the new generations

A theme, different every year, a sort of thread running through a 15-day festival of theatre, and a packed calendar of shows and workshops entirely aimed at children and young people. It celebrated its tenth edition in 2023 Kids, the Festival of theatre and arts for the new generations conceived and organised by Factory compagnia transadriatica and Principio attivo teatro, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Apulia Region, the Municipality of Lecce, Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and other partners. The festival has been accompanying the Christmas holidays for ten years, with a very rich programme embracing different locations in the city: Teatro Apollo, Teatro Paisiello, Manifatture Knos, then the Museo Ferroviario della Puglia, where the highly successful format 'In viaggio con le storie' (Travelling with stories) is staged, the Carlo V Castle, the Agostiniani complex, the Convitto Palmieri, Nasca il Teatro, L'Acchiappalibri, Tagghiate Urban Factory, to mention just those of the past edition. Places, both usual and unusual, that welcome shows at all hours, with the best of children's theatre staged by local and national companies and even international guests. The heart of the festival is the KidsVillage, a meeting space, open to children, ideas, visions and projects, a creative village in which endless playful possibilities are explored, starting with the use of very different materials and techniques to create a circular experience that takes us on a journey through books, art, science, nature and technology.
