Manibus/ Volumes of paper

Manibus/ Volumes of paper

The Carlo V Castle hosts the exhibition 'Volumi di carta' (Volumes of paper), a group show curated by Lia De Venere that brings together three-dimensional works by Caterina Crepax, Daniele Papuli, Perino&Vele and Anila Rubiku. The exhibition, which takes place as part of the Manibus project, after last year's zero edition has been enriched by becoming the "Manibus International Prize", and gives recognition to the excellence of national and international craftsmanship and great names linked to the enhancement of culture and "made in Italy", under the artistic direction of Nicola Miulli. Until 19 November, it is therefore possible to admire the works of the artists, different in terms of background, artistic declination and creative scope, but united by the expressive medium of paper. Caterina Crepax brings some of her "dresses and corsets", fragile in appearance, yet wearable. Daniele Papuli invades the Sala degli Statuti of the Lecce manor with a large-scale installation made by assembling and mixing thousands of strips of paper of different weights and shades of white. Perino&Vele are present with some large papier-mâché sculptures, in which objects from the everyday horizon, inspired by a deep sense of ethics, are transfigured by their usual playful attitude. Finally, there is Anila Rubiku's highly poetic installation: a sort of village of illuminated paper cottages embellished with embroidery, the result of a community project, realised with volunteers from a London cancer treatment centre.

The exhibition can be visited from Thursday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm.
