CARDIO grafia/ Umberto Albanese

Cardiologist by profession, painter by vocation. In two words: 'Cardio grafie', the title of Umberto Albanese's exhibition hosted in the Must spaces in Lecce and curated by Carmelo Cipriani. Synthesis and sign have become Albanese's stylistic signature in his mature years, which he has reached in his latest production that spans from 2019 to the present day, crossing the pandemic and post-pandemic periods. Born in 1950, the artist follows his highly personal abstract path along which even the colour has ceased its bright tones, becoming tenuous, as calm as the beats of stillness. The canvas thus becomes the space from which emerge subtle signs, minutiae and counterpoints that seem to come from a deeper state of consciousness, intimate, ephemeral yet powerfully expressive. The 40 works on display also include the cycle 'Homage to Leonardo da Vinci'.

The exhibition can be visited every day except Mondays from 9am to 9pm.
